Tavan Bogd Cycling and Eagle Festival 2019 I booked my trip with Bek Travel partly because of the good reviews, partly because of the reasonable price, and partly because he replied quickly and positively when I emailed to ask if he could suggest anything to do if I arrived a few days early for the Eagle Festival. It is only when you get there that you realise you are not the only "special case", but that he has 20 tourists arriving at different times, doing different things, leaving at different times... and he has it all under control! In fact, we exchanged several emails to arrange my trip - replies were always quick, clear, perfectly patient (when I got dates muddled) and non pushy (I wasn't in a position to book immediately, but there was no pressure about that, and Bek was happy to wait until I could confirm my plans). Bek organised someone to collect me on arrival in UB and take me to a hotel for an overnight stay before flying to Ulgii. Doggy (guide) and Mrs Moggie (cook) took me out to Tavan Bogd National Park for 4 days cycling. On return to Ulgii, I then joined the Eagle Festival tour, before returning to UB - where he had organised a day trip out to the Genghis Khan Monument. The tours themselves were brilliant. The bike was good quality, the food excellent, the guides friendly, accommodation varied from staying with a family in a ger to en suite hotel rooms. The cycling was hard enough - quite hilly, and the dirt roads tend to be washboarded, which, even with the suspension, makes for some challenging stretches - however, the guide was relaxed about chucking the bike in the van if I got tired. The Eagle Festival is brilliant, and the time spent with the eagle hunter afterwards was amazing. One of the nice touches when we were with the eagle hunter was that Bek had brought a Mobile (Cellular) Wi-Fi unit - when the generator fired up each night, the 4G WiFi would spring into life giving us all a chance to send messages (and photos!) to people back home. However, it's when things go wrong that you really find out how good your tour operator is - and, being wild Mongolia, things can and do go wrong. My flight delayed from UB by bad weather? The UB and Ulgii teams kept in touch and were there when I did arrive, no problems. The van broke down in the national park (miles from anywhere)? Doggy arranged for me to go for a great day trip with another group, while he took the van apart, got a couple of guys to drive 6 hours to us with a replacement part, repaired the van, no problem. One of the group got a mild concussion? A doctor was brought from the nearest village - no problem. Too sore from horse riding the previous day to do another day? A 4x4 was arranged to follow along and rendez-vous at the eagle hunting location such that no-one felt they'd missed out, no problem. In summary, the country is beautiful, the people friendly, and Bek's and his team come highly recommended based on my experiences.

Take a trip back through time in Western Mongolia There are few places on the planet as isolated yet full of culture and vibrancy as western Mongolia. I spent weeks researching which company would be able to help make my journey through this amazing landscape as close to a vision of local, sustainable, and responsible as possible. Bek works with local guides and horsemen to ensure a safe, well-catered, and fully supported trip. I opted for the 13 day odyssey into the mountains and down through the lakes of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, and tacked on two extra days in Olgii to take in the provincial Naadam! It could not have been a better experience, and the crew we had were definitely making sure we had what we needed to make the journey unforgettable. Schedules are flexible enough to make changes on the fly, and my guide Shokhan was incredible. Language was not a problem the entire trip (keep in mind they speak mostly Kazakh here, so my rudimentary Mongolian was useless for the most part). Food was delicious, and I was sure I was putting on weight while hiking 10-15kms a day. Accommodations are what you would expect during our trekking portion, and staying in gers was comfortable. I learned an amazing amount about the culture of Bayan-Olgii province, and got to live a healthy dose of the culture up close and personal. Everyone was friendly and genuine and didn't take you for a tourist mark. Having had the opportunity to spend some time with Bek in UB before meeting his crew in Olgii, and then gotten to know how his crew respect and admire his dedication to them (even in the tourist off-season!), I can confidently recommend Bek Travel to anyone looking for a wholesome journey with good people!

Great travel company for photographers!! I am a professional photographer and used Bek Travel to organize a photography tour of the Altai Mountains and the Eagle Hunters of Western Mongolia. They definitely delivered on their promise and we had a wonderful time. Bek was very good at communicating as we setup the itinerary. Our guide Dave was great at getting us to the places we needed to go and he spoke perfect english. They used a large crew of drivers, cooks, and support staff so we were well looked after. We had many opportunities to shoot the eagle hunters in the best light and even got to go on an actual eagle hunt. We organized a private eagle festival as well and also got several horseback rides in. I would definitely recommend Bek Travel to all photographers!!

Unforgettable experience in beautiful country I am currently writing Tripadvisor for all the travel experiences I had in the past, something I regrettable never did before. The trip I made with Bek took place in October 2015, so this is a very delayed review, I’m sorry for that. But even though it’s already four years ago I was in Mongolia, I still remember this trip very vividly, it made a deep impression on me and I am very sure I will never forget this amazing travel. The trip itself took two weeks, and I joined a group of fellow travelers (in total we were 6) who had booked Bek as our guide. Our main goal of the trip was to visit the Golden Eagle festival in western Mongolia. Bek himself drove us there during a 3 day drive though spectacular landscape. We stayed for almost a week in Ulgii, seeing the surroundings and visiting the festival. After that we went on a weeklong trip through western Mongolia, with our own guide Jabar and personal cook. Both were friendly and helpful and took us around beautiful places. We rode horse, hiked mountains, played in the snow, encountered big herds of sheep and yak, hold a golden eagle on our arm and drove many miles through pure wilderness. We slept at local people’s homes, which were so friendly and fed us elaborate meals. The whole trip was perfectly arranged and I am still so grateful for being able to experience this. I want to thank Bek again for this unforgettable trip. I can wholeheartedly recommend him.

Awesome journey! I did little research on Mongolia and the nature of our tour, but knew we'd do some trekking and horseback riding and a homestay. We opted for the 13 day tour. It was incredible to be surprised each day with new scenery, adventures and cultural experiences. The landscape changed by the hour as we made our way through the mountains. Highlights included climbing Mulchin peal, the great people, and galloping on horseback along beautiful rolling hills (as a novice rider). The company was extremely well organized and everything went off without a hitch. Communication was good and everyone was super friendly, from Bek to the guides to the cook to the horsemen. The people of Mongolia are so friendly and welcoming, so refreshing! It was an authentic outdoors experience, but with enough comfort and support. Loved it! Mike

Fabulous experience - staying with Eagle Hunter family I booked with Bek Travel on-line as they were very quick to respond to my questions and really great to deal with. Our stay with Mr Ardakh, Mrs Badel and Moldir, the Nomad family was wonderful (and their dog Silvester Stallone). Ayaulim the majestic eagle was incredible. Our guide Aibo, was great - we made some changes to our plans and he accommodated us really well. Our driver Khajybyek was careful and knew the road so well and our food was delicious, cooked by the lovely Zoya. All in all an amazing experience and I would highly recommend Bek Travel to anyone that is looking for an adventure that is really well run. Their camp on the outskirts of Ulggi was very clean and well catered for

Life Changing Experience..... I am a professional photographer from the US and a few days ago I returned from one of the most amazing journeys I have ever experienced. I was looking for a travel company that could take me to northern Mongolia to see the reindeer people and from there to western Mongolia to stay with an eagle hunter family. I couldn't have asked for anything better, Bek took his time and put together a journey that was especially suited to my special needs. Everything was carefully planned to the small details and the team that he works with are the best people in the field. Guides, drivers and cooks are all there to make sure you enjoy the perfect experience! If you are planning to go to Mongolia this is definitely the best travel company here, whether you are traveling alone or a couple or a group. Avi.

Fabulous Trip of a Lifetime We went to North-West Mongolia to experience two weeks of trekking in the mountains and one week around the Naadam Festival in Olgii and Ulaanbaator. We had a most enjoyable experience with our guide and assistant guide, cook and wranglers - assisted by three camels and four horses. It was marvellous to be away from the normal noise of civilisation and its distractions. As it was only the two of us as guests, we got to know our team very well and were able to share our meals, jokes and play cards with them. We all had fun!! It was awesome to be invited into nomad homes and make contact with the locals. It was also wonderful to see so many animals - horses, sheep, camels, goats, yaks, marmots and ground squirrels as well as kites and golden eagles. Bek Travel and its staff was outstanding in their hospitality and care. David our guide was very patient and had a wealth of information for our endless questions about all sorts of topics relating to Mongolia as was Bek in Ulaanbataar. There was a lot of terrain to cover on foot - which is what we were seeking - and breathtaking sights. I highly recommend Bek Travel.

The Best Tour Company We booked Bek Travel for our family with our two young girls. We did the Gobi area and Tavan Bogd climbing Mount Malchin. Everything was great. The guides were wonderful, the driver was safe and fun and the cook was amazing! We had the best adventure and our girls loved the trip. Bek was extremely responsive. Bek is truly the best company you can travel with in Mongolia. We can't wait to return and will use Bek again! I would give six stars if I could!!

The best way to discover Altai Tavan Bogd We booked 6 days tour with Bek travel around 2 months before going to Mongolia. We looked for something to "relax" after 2 weeks trekking in another region in Mongolia. It was 100% was we looked for. Not only did the team assigned to us take care of everything (food accomodation, etc.), the team was genuinely AMAZING (Chokan, Nurka and Zoya). We started as tourists and stayed as friends. I have never experienced such genuine will to share about this magnificent region which is indeed like a National Geographic Channel. If you go Western Mongolia (which you should), go with Bek travel! Trust us.
