Day by Day Itinerary

Day 01 — Fly to Olgii & Drive to Tavan Bogd Ranger Station

Make your own arrangements to reach Ulaanbaatar airport. We'll pick you up from the Olgii airport.

Catch the Morning flight from Ulaanbaatar to Olgii. Your tickets are included.

Short town introduction followed by brunch at a halal restaurant.

Drive 5–6 hours to the Tavan Bogd Ranger Station (3,000m altitude).

Arrive and settle into gers for the night.

Day 02 — Horse Ride to Base Camp & Glacier View

Ride horses for 5–6 hours to the Tavan Bogd base camp.

See the Potanian Glacier and enjoy lunch at the site.

Light trekking around the glacier area.

Late afternoon ride back to the Ranger Station. Overnight in gers.

Day 03 — Drive to Khoton & Khurgan Lakes

Drive from the Ranger Station toward Khoton and Khurgan Lakes.

Stop in the Snake River Valley to see ancient burial mounds and stones.

Continue to the lakes and arrive at a Kazakh nomadic family camp.

Settle in for two nights among forests, snow-capped peaks, pristine lakes, and mineral streams.

Enjoy a traditional “five fingers” feast with Kazakh neighbors—music, singing, and celebrations.

Overnight in a yurt.

Day 04 — Hike to Ikh Turgen Waterfall & Visit an Eagle Hunter

Morning hike to Ikh Turgen Valley to see a glacier-fed waterfall.

Return hike to the nomadic family camp.

Visit a golden-eagle hunter on the way back and learn about his lifestyle.

Overnight with the Kazakh nomadic family.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner provided.


Day 05 — Lakeside Hike & Return to Olgii

Hike toward Khurgan Lake and enjoy lunch by the water.

Afternoon drive back to Olgii.

Farewell dinner and Kazakh band concert in the evening.

Overnight at Bek’s Hotel.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner provided.


Day 06 — Fly Back to Ulaanbaatar

After breakfast, transfer to Olgii or Khovd airport.

Fly back to Ulaanbaatar.

End of trip.

What to Pack?

🧥 Clothing (Layered System)

Moisture-wicking base layers (1–2 sets; merino or synthetic recommended).

Mid layers: fleece jacket or light down/synthetic insulated jacket.

Light insulated jacket (for cold mornings/evenings).

Lightweight waterproof/windproof shell jacket & pants.

Trekking pants (quick-dry).

Light warm hat + optional buff/neck gaiter.

Lightweight gloves (optional fleece liners).

Socks: wool or synthetic (4–5 pairs).

Comfortable hiking shoes/boots (water-resistant recommended).

Camp shoes/sandals for indoors in gers or evenings.

Pro Tips for Mongolia (Outside the Winter months)

Weather swings are real: days warm, mornings and nights chilly—layers are essential.

Expect dust, wind, and sun exposure: protect your skin and gear.

Quick-dry clothing performs better than cotton in camping conditions.

Ger interiors are warm at night near the stove but can cool down by morning—keep essentials handy.


FAQs

I don't know how to ride horses. Can I do this tour?

Yes. Many of our guests are first timers on a horse. We provide easy to ride horses for you. At the start of the tour we have practice sessions and training. At all times you ll be accompanied by a wrangler.


Are there any additional costs?

No, There are no extra costs. We cover everything in the itinerary including meals, transportation, entertainment fees.
